How does the program work?

PALThe PAL program goes to great lengths to match adult volunteers with children who share similar interests, taking the guesswork out of finding the best role model for your child. It is our goal to create PAL matches that meet the needs of both volunteer and child.

This one-on-one relationship includes getting together twice per month. In addition, both the Little and Big PALs can participate in free group activities with other PAL matches. These may include service projects, holiday celebrations and social gatherings. The PAL program provides ongoing professional support and supervision throughout the relationship.

All volunteers go through a rigorous screening process including an interview, home visit and background check. Volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of one year to the program.

How Do We Get Started?

After completing the application, our PAL coordinator will schedule individual interviews with the guardian and child. The coordinator then matches the child with a compatible PAL volunteer in the most comfortable environment possible. This initial meeting is the first step in this life-changing relationship. JF&CS is proud to offer this program at no cost.
