Robin Levin's Hanukkah in July
When Robin Levin became an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics four years ago, her sales unit participated in a fundraiser aligning with the Mary Kay PINK CHANGING LIVES campaign to donate products to women in domestic violence shelters across Atlanta. The bags were to be delivered in time to be opened on Christmas morning by all the residents of each shelter.
Two years later, Robin wanted to continue this fundraising on her own. When she learned about Shalom Bayit, she decided to reach out within her Jewish community through JF&CS. The following June she began a campaign for “Hanukkah in July” to provide Mary Kay travel roll-up bags filled with products for skin care, body care and makeup for women using Shalom Bayit services.
“I was overwhelmed by the generosity of friends, family and customers and shocked to find out that people I knew in the community had been affected by domestic violence themselves,” said Robin. All donations were matched, so every penny went to providing products to women in need. This year, with the same overwhelming response, she donated even more bags.
Preventing and raising awareness about domestic violence is central to the Mary Kay Foundation’s mission. “I am so proud to be part of a company that is committed to enriching women’s lives in so many ways and love that I can give back with my business,” she said. “I have always believed in the power of tzedakah and was taught its importance at an early age.”
Last year, Robin got an anonymous note from a woman who received one of her bags. “I was lucky enough to learn what it truly meant to her,” she said. “I am looking forward to continuing my relationship with Shalom Bayit to help make even the smallest difference or put a smile on the face of someone who needs one.”
Thank you Robin!
