Major Funding

While the majority of our funding comes from foundations, corporations, government grants and many private donors, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta provide the major funding from single sources.

JFGA-180x JF&CS was founded around 1890 as a committee within the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. The agency became an autonomous organization in 1982 but maintains a special relationship with Federation. Today the two organizations function as collaborators, partners and an extended family. From working together on services to all segments of Jewish Atlanta, we share a goal of caring for the vulnerable and strengthening the community.

United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta began its support of JF&CS in 1956, and in FY 2009-2010, it contributed 6 percent of our funds. The support is mutual; each year our employees donate to the United Way so it can continue to provide vital services that aim to address urgent and basic human care and build a strong Atlanta.

The partnership has benefited Atlanta’s greater community through counseling services, financial assistance and other timely supports. United Way has consistently focused upon the value of the agency’s Ben Massell Dental Clinic and played a leadership role in the campaign to build the new, state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2007 and that serves a large segment of our indigent community. Our strategic collaborations will continue to serve the needs of the individuals and families in metro Atlanta.

JF&CS is the recipient of many different grants, awards, and other supporting funds.  We are grateful for each and every grant that we are awarded and would like to acknowledge the following programs and organizations.

Jewish Family & Career Services is a recipient of a Google Grant award.

The Google Grants program supports organizations sharing Google's philosophy of community service to help the world in areas such as science and technology, education, global public health, the environment, youth advocacy, and the arts.

Designed for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, Google Grants is a unique in-kind advertising program harnessing the power of Google AdWords advertising product. Google Grants has awarded AdWords advertising to hundreds of nonprofit groups whose missions range from animal welfare to literacy, from supporting homeless children to promoting HIV education.

Grants to Green, a partnership between The Community Foundation, Southface and Community Enterprise Partners, supports metro Atlanta nonprofits to renovate or build workplaces to maximize energy and environmental efficiency. The ultimate goal is not only to lessen environmental impact but also to increase the cost-efficiency of operations, enabling agencies to focus on their true priority of serving clients. Future “green” building plans include replacing the outdated and inefficient lighting system in the building.
